Target Audience

Who Is iDevice Mastery Meant For?

– Posted in: Uncategorized

So I have read that I need to define who my target audience is.  Because, and let’s be honest, to say that “everyone” is the target audience of this blog would just be absurd!

With a world population of nearly 7 billion, setting a goal of having everyone as a reader is just a touch too much work.  Besides, not all of those nearly 7 billion own an iPhone or iPad.

So I break it down further.  According to Apple’s website, regarding the second quarter sales report released April 24, 2012, they sold 35.1 million iPhones and 11.8 million iPads.  Thats 46.9 million devices sold in 3 months time.  Yup, still too big of an audience.

Let’s say (wild non-researched guess) that half of those iDevices sold, were sold to those that can read English.  Still too big of an audience.  I could literally break this down for ever.  So here you go.

When I was thinking of who my audience was going to be, I had a specific group of people in mind.  The simplest answer, is those who come to me with questions.  This included co-workers, friends, and family.

Based on those people, I came up with Adam.  Adam the Apple iDevice user.  Most likely Adam only has an iPhone.  But, Adam may have gotten an iPad last Christmas, or for his birthday.  Hopefully Adam got on board sometime back and got himself a Mac.  Although, he may have not yet seen the light and is still slogging around on that PC of his.

Adam is about 28 years old and has a full-time job.  Adam is busy with his job, not to mention his wife and newborn.

With all this going on, Adam doesn’t have a whole lot of time to deal with his lovely Apple devices.  And even though he has had an iDevice for a few years, he really only had time to learn the bare-bones.  Like making phone calls, entering contacts, and sending large amounts of text messages.

But here is the thing.  There is so much more Adam can do with his iDevices!  And it really isn’t too difficult to learn how to do these things!

You see, Adam’s wife has an iPhone as well.  But they aren’t seeing the same Calendars.  So, during the pregnancy, Adam missed a few Doctor’s appointments because he scheduled some business meetings during that time and couldn’t get out of the obligation.  Happy wife, happy life, Adam!

I could probably go on with this as well for a few more paragraphs, but I think I’ve made my point.  Which is, Adam is the reader this blog is meant for.

Now ladies, don’t be upset.  Because Angela the Apple iDevice user fits this profile as well.  In fact, that is Adams wife!

Ok, I’m done.  I promise.

This post is definitely not meant to exclude anyone.  I just had to define my target.  The simple fact is, if I can help someone learn something new, then I am glad to have helped.

So let’s take action!  Is there someone out there that this blog would help out?  Tell them about my website.  Do you have a question or problem that is iPhone or iPad related?  Let me know and I will be more then happy to help out.  Maybe your more of a Twitter or Facebook kind of person?  Well you can find me there too.

Hope you enjoy, and Happy iOSing!
