While this isn’t as formal as the other “Fine Print” stuff I have on this site, I still feel it is important for everyone to know. Which is why I have it located in the main navigation of this website.
What is an Affiliate Link?
An affiliate link is a link that I place on this website that takes you to another website which offers a product or service. When a reader such as yourself clicks on the link and purchases a product or service, I receive a commission from the company for referring you to them. There is no additional cost to you.
So, for example, let’s take a look at the OtterBox logo in the right sidebar of this site. If you clicked on that logo and purchased one of their cases, or anything else, they would pay me a commission. The case or other item you purchased would cost you the same if you clicked on the link I have on this website or went to OtterBox.com.
What I link to.
Not all links on this site are affiliate links. If the company has an affiliate program that I can apply for, I do.
If the company does not have an affiliate program, such as iFixIt.com, I will still link to it. Why? Because they are a great company that offers fantastic information and services that can help my readers.
I only link to the products and services that I use, or plan to use, and trust. Why? Because I love this stuff! And I want to help as many people as I can. If I sent my readers to shady products and services just for a quick buck, my reputation would go right down the toilet. And no matter how good the content was on this website, people would not read it because they would not trust the author. I value my reputation and my readers.
So why do I use affiliate links?
Keeping a website going has costs to keep it up. And affiliate links are my way of recovering those costs.
Hopefully this page helps clarify what affiliate links are, and why I use them.
Thanks, and Happy iOSing.
